Notable

While Moss Agate has inclusions that resemble plant materials those inclusions are not truly from plants but minerals. Most of these inclusions are made up of made up of manganese oxide or iron. Oddly enough these inclusions can be within the chalcedony banding which allows the mineral clusters the ability to continue to grow within them because the chalcedony is a type of porous silica "gel"!

This interesting stone can be found in a number of places all over the world including India, Russia, Australia, and the USA. The Montana Moss Agate, one of the Yellowstone agates, is perhaps the most well known and very popular among collectors.

Cleaning:  Soap and water, damp cloth or running under cool water.

Moss agate should be left in the presence of greenery overnight once every month.
