Jewelry Trends For Spring 2014

Trends for Spring are "out" and it is fun to see what is going to be "up and coming" in the jewelry world.  I love to be inspired by trends and what other designers are making or showing in their lines. After scouring the internet, fashion blogs & magazines, jewelry sites and trend setters, I have come up with the following "forecast" in jewelry trends and I hope you will find this information useful.
Multicolored bracelets

You may have stacked bangles  that you have been using for the past several years, but in 2014, it's all about mixing metals and styles. Texture and mixed metals are big this season and you can get the new look by combining shiny bangles with hammered ones, gold with silver, silver with copper, brass and more.  Stacking varying widths of bracelets or even stacking multiple types like bangles, beaded and leather styles will be popular, as well.
Statement necklaces

While the statement necklace never goes out of style, this season larger, chunkier chains and matching bracelets will be hot. These pieces go with just about any outfit and can even be layered over one another, or those from previous seasons, for a bold "rock 'n' roll" look.
Natural styles

Jewelry incorporating nature elements will be bigger than ever in 2014. This will include things like delicate leaf shapes in drop earrings, bracelets with flower shapes or dangles incorporated into them, necklaces with branch-style accents or centers and even dragonfly or butterflies in multiple product lines offered by designers.
Fringed and fabulous!

Bohemian style fringed designs are something that many designers will be using. These fringes will pop up in items like  chandelier style earrings and tasseled necklaces, reminding us of the flapper girls of the roaring 20's.  This will lead to some styles that have Art Noveau or Art Deco elements which will mix and match well with a retro or vintage wardrobe.
Vivid stones

Bold colors will be found in many fashions this year. Perhaps the best known color authority, Pantone, released their Fashion Color Report for Spring 2014.  this forecast included myriad bright colors such as Freesia, Celosia Orange and Radiant Orchid. Other shades like Placid Blue and Dazzling Blue were also mentioned, meaning that aquamarine, sapphire and other gemstones in this hue will likely be very popular along with any colors that mix and match with any of the mentioned colors.
So....
Once again I seem to be ahead of the trends this season! I have been mixing and matching silver, copper, brass and gold for the past few seasons and including natural elements in many, if not most of, my handmade jewelry.  And color? My specialty! I simply adore being able to make combinations that both surprise and delight so I am really looking forward to this upcoming season.  The photos here are all items that are currently available in the studio so please stop by and see both them and me!

Which trends are your favorites this coming season and which your least favorite? Let me know by leaving a comment below! :)

  1. Love it! I love bold necklaces and matching earnings. I love the look of bracelets but they drive me crazy - I use my hands too much to be comfortable. And for some strange reason every time I read about placid blue this season I see it as flaccid. Maybe, I just need things a bit bolder.

    1. I love that I am not the only one who shares your opinion of placid blue! lol I am the same way with bracelets. I only wear them on special occasions for the very same reason-that and I tend to catch them on everything imaginable!
